Here is a pretty strong wake-up call… Relatively young man dies of a stroke at 52 years old. Yes, I’m talking about the Riverdale and 90210 star Luke Perry.
Regardless if you are a fan or not, the fact he had a stroke – and died from it – at 52, should be a HUGE motivation to learn more about stroke prevention, having regular checkups with your Doc and continue (or start) living a healthy lifestyle.
So, if you are still thinking about starting that New Year’s resolution….. START NOW. (And hey, let’s face it after a little bit of work and some healthier eating, you will look and feel better!)
Statistics say 80% of strokes are preventable and many of the risk factors can be controlled. Cholesterol, waistline, blood pressure, smoking and blood sugar levels can all play a part in your stroke prevention plan.
Here is an acronym that was developed to help determine if someone is having a stroke. “Remember to think F.A.S.T.“
- FACE: Is one side of the face drooping?
- ARMS: when both arms are lifted, is one higher than the other?
- SPEECH: Is speech slurred?
- TIME: If you have symptoms, time is critical. CALL for HELP Immediately!
Here is the link to the American Heart Association where I got most of this info from.
So…. let’s do this together! Eat healthier. Live healthier! BE healthier!!!
